I have a question (or more of a confirmation of my suspicions) regarding updating firmware in a VRRP environment.
We have the following set-up:
What I need done is to upgrade the firmware to the latest and greatest (6.3.0r21) for both devices. Theoretically, I plan on updating the signing key on router 2 (the slave), and then doing a firmware update. Once the upgraded router works, I would then upgrade router 1.
My only concern is if there are any known issues to arise from upgrading routers in this type of configuration. Our primary stipulation is to have absolutely no down-time as this is a production environment. Again, I realize that the very nature of VRRP is to ensure continuous up-time, but I wanted to verify first if there are any known issues that can occur during this process. I'm also curious as to what the implications are of upgrading from 6.3.0r3 to 6.3.0r21. I'm still doing research on this, but I was wonder if off the top of your heads, is there an upgrade path I have to follow or can I just go straight from 6.3.0r3 to 6.30r21? Any input is highly appreciated. Thank you.
