There are the normal type of security patches up the ScreenOS software chain. But the one I mentioned above was more eqgregious and therefore prompted Juniper to allow upgrades outside of the normal support rules.
I guess you purchased this used and the previous owners did not keep the support contract active. Had they keep it active you would have been able to transfer and continue it with rights for downloads.
