Well, if you have access to the master, why not change the management IP of the master and reconnect? 
Unless it is the interface IP you are referring to as MGT IP, this will work.
Even if the interface IP is being used for management, set a dedicated MGT IP on the master, trigger a failover, access new master on the interface IP and then assign a new MGT IP for his box as well.
