I'm having trouble seeing what hardware Shaw uses and the technology for the client handoff method.
You mentioned this is a static ip address, how is the interface facing the Shaw ISP configured?
When the site goes down will only a reboot of the Shaw modem help or does rebooting the SSG also clear the connection?
